Ribbon, V-Type & Double Cone Blenders for Powder Blending
SS316 blenders in ribbon, octagonal, double cone or V-type designs, with a mirror-polished tumbling shell, butterfly valve discharge and safety-interlocked railings, sized from 100 to 2,500 litres. Choosing the right blender geometry for your powder or granule characteristics has a direct effect on blend uniformity, cycle time and product degradation risk.
Choosing a Blender Type
Ribbon blenders use an internal ribbon agitator for fast, forced blending of dense or cohesive powders, actively working the material rather than relying on gravity. Double cone and V-type blenders instead tumble the material gently under gravity inside a rotating shell, which suits free-flowing granules and fragile particles that shouldn't be sheared or broken during mixing.
Safety & Discharge
Every unit is fitted with a butterfly valve discharge for clean, controlled unloading directly into a container or downstream process, along with integrated safety railings and a limit switch so the drive cannot run while the loading platform is accessed. This is an important consideration for GMP and safety audits, and a common gap on older or informally modified blenders.
Sizing & Batch Planning
Blender capacity should be matched not just to the typical batch size but to the bulk density and flow characteristics of the specific powder, since a blender that is too full or too empty can compromise blend uniformity either way.
Frequently asked questions
- Which blender type suits fragile granules?
- Double cone or V-type blenders are generally preferred for fragile or free-flowing granules since the tumbling action is gentler than a ribbon blender's forced mixing, reducing particle breakage.
- What capacity range is available?
- Blenders are available from 100 litres for pilot batches up to 2,500 litres for full production runs, in SS304 or SS316 food/pharma-grade finish.
- Do the blenders come with safety interlocks fitted?
- Yes, every unit is fitted with safety railings and a limit switch so the drive cannot operate while the loading platform is accessible, meeting standard plant safety audit requirements.
